Guerrilla Girls | Not Ready to Make Nice
On the 2015 opening night of The Whitney Museum’s new location in Chelsea, the Guerrilla Girls team up with The Illuminator Collective to advocate for female artists, and expose the disparate economics among investing in a new construction site, the price of art and the unlivable wages paid to art workers.
The R Word
When the editors of a High School newspaper redact their racist team name in solidarity with a vocal Native mother, school administrators retaliate against the students. In a district claiming their 80-year old tradition honors Native Americans, district residents and several school board members actively bully and shame Donna Fann-Boyle for speaking out against the mascot. As her struggle to educate the district intensifies, a grassroots effort of non-native community members emerges to support Donna. Over the course of several years, Donna carries her 17-count complaint with the school board to the Human Relations Commission of Pennsylvania and beyond.
